As read on the CVS commit mailing list and in the news section of HaikuWare, a brand new usb_disk driver has been added to the source code repository.
Altough not yet added to the VMware image, that driver “should be able to support USB mass storage devices of the bulk-only class using transparent SCSI commands (i.e. most of the current external harddrives and flash media)”. There a still issues with hot-(un)plugging but in the end this piece of code should “allow to boot Haiku
from USB media like memory sticks or external harddrives”.
Great news !
